For the past couple of years I’ve followed the lead of Chris Brogan by defining three words to guide my year. Three ideas or principles to bear in mind. This is in place of the resolution which seems a less effective way of moving the chains.
Here are my three for 2013:
Educate. I’ll be peeking toward medical education in 2013. How can I translate what I’m doing to empower other doctors? I’ve spent 4 years griping about doctors and their refusal to speak up. Perhaps the place to start is at the beginning. While I’ve never viewed myself a professional educator, perhaps that’s just what medical education needs.
Ship. This has been a word in years past and it’s one that will guide me again in 2013. Shipping is the final act of execution. Talking is good, shipping is better. To produce consistently good ideas, content and ways of seeing medicine’s digital transition is hard work. I’ll keep at it. I do need to do better.
Apply. How can I apply what I chatter about here every day. For the past couple of years I’ve spent my time talking about what might be. I need to think about how to make it be in my corner of the world. I need to think more about creative application where I see real world problems. We’re reaching a critical mass of technology adoption with physicians. I expect to see more of this from other clinicians as well.
Here’s to a healthy, happy 2013. I appreciate your visiting and I hope to see more you this year.
What are your 3 words?
