I came across this tweet recently. It linked to a blogpost written to promote bookstores and discourage the use of Amazon.
WHY YOU SHOULD USE A REAL BOOKSTORE OVER AMAZON
It got me thinking how doctors are at risk of becoming like book vendors.
Don’t beg like the guy promoting brick and mortar businesses. Of course, supplication will keep you alive in the short run. But ultimately you have to find what you can do that the platform/AI/machine/algorithm/provider can’t. You have to understand how you bring value. Then, like the great stores, you’ll never be out of business.
The physician’s greatest concern should be irrelevance. And anyone who can be replaced deserves to be replaced.
