Artificial Intelligence – How to Future Proof Your Job

October 16, 2017 By Bryan Vartabedian · Reading Time: < 1 minutes

MIT’s Max Tegmark in his new book, Life 3.0 – Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, discusses how young workers can future proof for artificial intelligence.

Recent forecasts for when various jobs will get taken over by machines identify several useful questions to ask about a career before deciding to educate oneself for it. For example:

  1. Does it require interacting with people and using social intelligence?
  2. Does it involve creativity and coming up with clever solutions?
  3. Does it require working in an unpredictable environment?

I’m halfway through but if you think about the future, I fully recommend Life 3.0. For a comprehensive unpacking of AI’s impact on the economy, I’d recommend Machine Platform Crowd – Harnessing Our Digital Future recently out from Andrew McAfee and Erik Brynjolfsson.
