Progress

August 13, 2016 By Bryan Vartabedian · Reading Time: < 1 minute

Checking out of a hotel last week I stood in line as the clerk offered directions by telephone to an incoming guest. As the line grew longer and as the conversation dragged, the clerk suggested what we were all thinking: map it, buddy.

We all work with folks who always want it the old way. No matter what. Through their lens nothing should ever change since, of course, the present represents civilization’s ultimate iteration.

I know of one provider who insisted that her last 4 EHR progress notes be printed and placed on the exam room door. When it was deemed unsustainable, she figured out how to click the encounters tab to view her progress notes.

When the problems created by the old way exceed the resistance to change, we reach threshold, move along, and ultimately accept the value in something different.

Next time I’ll check out using using my app.
